Roberts promoted to Chief Pilot
RALEIGH, N.C. -- Ryan Roberts has been named Ram Air Freight's new Chief Pilot, taking over for Bo Henriksson who will focus on other duties within the company. For the immediate future, Henriksson will continue to serve as a company instructor and check airman. Roberts will step into his new role on Aug. 1.
Roberts, who joined Ram Air in February as Assistant Chief Pilot, brings five years of Part 135 experience to his new job. He is an ATP-rated pilot who has flown more than 3,800 hours in a variety of aircraft types. He also holds a bachelor's of science degree in professional aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, along with a minor in aviation business administration.
"When we brought Ryan on board, it was always with the intent that some day he'd become Chief Pilot," said Ram Air Freight President Jon Heuman. "Bo had always indicated that he wanted to focus on other things. Now that Ryan has been here for a while and has an understanding of what it is we do here, we decided that now is a good time for this important transition."
In his new role, Roberts will oversee Ram Air's staff of around 30 full-time pilots.
"We have a solid group of pilots here and I'm looking forward to working even closer with them," Roberts said. "Thankfully, Bo is leaving me the controls of a smooth-flying ship which will make this transition very easy."
Ram Air Freight is the time-critical freight leader in the mid-Atlantic and southeast regions. Its customers are some of the best known banks on the East coast as well as freight carriers such as UPS and Airborne Express. The company began operations in 1982 and has its headquarters at Raleigh-Durham International Airport.
